European Academies Overview

Europe is home to a wide range of academies that support leadership, debating, strategy, peacebuilding, and more. Below you will find a selection of established academies.

European Academy

  • What to expect: Intensive leadership bootcamp with Insights Discovery, outdoor team challenges, and 50+ hours of training.
  • Target group: Local Presidents (designated or elected).
  • How to join: Nomination via your National Organization.
  • Prerequisites: Elected Local President, good English, physical fitness.
  • Costs: ~560 € (excl. travel).
  • Location: Always in Kungälv / Gothenburg, Sweden.
  • Duration/Timing: 4.5 days, annually early August.

JCI Strategy Academy

  • What to expect: Design Thinking, strategy tools, and real case workshops.
  • Target group: JCI members preparing for leadership roles.
  • How to join: Apply online.
  • Costs: ~378 € incl. accommodation & meals.
  • Location: Finland / rotating.
  • Duration/Timing: 2.5 days, early June.

European Debate Academy

  • What to expect: Practical debating workshops, practice rounds, and networking.
  • Target group: JCI members aiming to debate at European/World level.
  • How to join: Register online; limited places.
  • Costs: ~45–100 £ depending on package.
  • Location: Rotating (e.g., 2025 Aberdeen, Scotland).
  • Duration/Timing: Weekend, usually in spring.

Conference Organising Academy (COA)

  • What to expect: Full event management training – sponsorship, sustainable event design, team leadership.

  • Target group: Future COC members & event leaders.

  • How to join: Pre-registration online.

  • Costs: ~400–500 € incl. hotel & meals.

  • Location: Estonia (rotates, but often hosted there).

  • Duration/Timing: 7 days, March.

Peace Makers Academy

  • What to expect: Geopolitics input, crisis simulation, hackathon on peace projects (>25h content).

  • Target group: Young changemakers (open also to non-JCI).

  • How to join: Register online.

  • Costs: ~250–400 €.

  • Location: Paris (may rotate in the future).

  • Duration/Timing: 3 days, autumn (late October/early November).

Nordic Academy

  • What to expect: Leadership training for upcoming National Boards in the Nordics.

  • Target group: Elected National Board members (Nordics & Baltics).

  • How to join: Application via NO.

  • Costs: ~330 €.

  • Location: Rotating within Nordic countries.

  • Duration/Timing: 3.5 days, late July.

    Balkan Academy

    • What to expect: Regional workshops, networking, sustainability projects.

    • Target group: Balkan JCI members & guests.

    • How to join: Register via host NO.

    • Costs: ~220–250 € incl. hotel & meals.

    • Location: Rotating (2025: Sofia, Bulgaria).

    • Duration/Timing: 4 days, late September.

      • What to expect: NOs in the same region co-create growth strategies and projects.

      • Target group: Members responsible for growth & development.

      • How to join: Apply through host NO.

      • Costs: ~140 € incl. meals.
